I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland and my B.A. in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I completed my internship at the Baltimore VA Medical Center followed by a research post-doctoral fellowship at the Mental Illness Research Education and Clinical Center at the Baltimore VA Medical Center. I then worked at the Durham VA Medical Center for four years, first as a site lead for the program Coaching Into Care and then as the Local Recovery Coordinator for the facility. I now have a private practice in Chapel Hill, NC and greatly enjoy working serving this community.
I have worked with variety of client populations including those with anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, substance use disorders, schizophrenia and psychotic illnesses, and personality disorders. I am trained in the application of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Conjoint Therapy, and Motivational Enhancement Therapy. My work with clients heavily emphasizes principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, particularly emphasizing values, mindfulness, and self-compassion and seems best suited for folks experiencing anxiety, depression, or going through life/career transitions.
I am incredibly passionate about my clinical work and being present with my clients as they navigate life's challenges and move closer to values and self-actualization. As a fellow human traveler, I myself am constantly seeking to further wisdom and compassion in my own life and work. I view my approach to therapy as widely applicable and adaptable to the range of the human condition. Please read more about my approach to individual and couples therapy on my website and call or email me if you would like to schedule an appointment or telephone consultation.
